Our Weekend...continued

Since I never actually got to the weekend in the last post, here I am again to finish the job! This must be a record for us-two posts in 6 months :)

So the story begins one afternoon last winter when I was at home getting wedding invitations ready and got a telemarketer call! To make a long story short, I ended up getting sucked in and purchasing a two-night stay at a cabin in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, plus a $50 gift card for dining or entertainment in town. The only catch was, we had to attend a sales seminar during the weekend where we were to be offered even more tantalizing packages to purchase!

Didn't know the Titanic ended up here.

We arrived in Pigeon Forge on Friday afternoon, and I was somewhat dismayed at how tourist-y it was. I didn't realize it was like a mini-rednecks' Las Vegas. Very commercial in a hokey, cheesey kind of way. But, we decided to enjoy ourselves and make the most of it-no matter where we stayed. After checking in at about 3 different places, we were finally given the key to our cabin, and a map to follow. We arrived and were relieved to see the cabin was actually quite nice( the resort selling us the weekend getaway hadn't actually been built yet, so they put us up in privately owned cabins). I was excited to find a full kitchen, a whirlpool in the bedroom, and a grill and hot tub on the back porch! The best part was that we were all tucked away in the back of the "cabin neighborhood" and the view from the hot tub was the beautiful fall leaves!

Off to a great start this morning!

We made the most of the grill, hot tub and fireplace, attended the seminar on Saturday, and used our gift certificate to see the Ripley's Aquarium--awesome! We went out to eat, got to know a local guy who happened to be wearing an Iowa t-shirt, and wrapped up the trip with an 8-mile hike on Sunday to a beautiful 105 ft waterfall on Ramsey Creek. Overall, a wonderful trip (our first multi-night trip since we got married!!) and motivation to start planning a honeymoon!

Our Weekend

Well, we had an interesting last couple of weekends, with Halloween, and trying several new activities/destinations. I figured it's as good a reason as any to update our little blog here--boy we are behind!

Last weekend, on Halloween, I was determined to dress up for the first time in a couple years, and Greg got on the bandwagon, so we ended up renting a King and Queen outift from a Costume Shoppe in Asheville. The look was completed with two stuffed white squirrels velcro'ed to our shoulders, and we became--DUH duh duh DUH!!! The King and Queen of Brevard. :)

Greg recently got his motorcycle permit for a bike we bought from a friend last year, and we went on a fall ride one afternoon:

Well, shoot, I am out of time and still haven't even gotten to the ziplining, or this weekend. ...more to come!!
