On the Eve of the Thunder Road Marathon

After all the miles, the sweat, and the toil, it is finally almost here. It is the eve of the marathon and I thought there was no better way to commemorate it blog-style than to post a picture of one of the many training runs Greg went on this fall. He will have to bear with me for just a moment while I make a big deal out of him and his hard work.

All those days of long runs, pushing through that stretch of sickness, teeth extractions, and running with a shin splint...I am very proud of him. This particular day was a 20-mile jaunt along Turnagain Arm. I followed along on my bike, snapping pictures along the way. It was a beautiful, sunny day...a great memory. And now, all that hard work will pay off...Good Luck, Gregory, Preston, and Troy; and Glenda, Hannah, Max, Jesse Ruth, Anna Preston and your family friends: HAVE A GREAT TIME!!! I wish I could be there with you all.

"...let us run with endurance the race set before us."

From AK to NC

Becca will take me to the airport in a few hours and I will be on the home stretch to the marathon; along with my Dad, and my buddy Troy from the whitewater center. This last leg of life between the time I drove to Alaska and now has gone fairly smooth, and Becca and I were talking last night about how blessed we have been for things to work out as good as they have. I know I had to get my wisdom teeth out, and was pretty sick once, and have had to learn a higher cost of living; but I/we could have been a lot less fortunate over the last few months. Becca now will have a week and a half left of school for the semester which will be filled with studying for exams. Then, she is going (driving) with her parents down to California to see her sister (and her family)....they will then get her sister and child in the car for the drive to Sheridan, WY for Becca's brother's marriage ceremony......'that'll be quite a trip. I like windshield time....One of the coolest parts of their trip will be if/when they take the ferry from Haines, AK to Bellingham, WA...that is like a three day journey down some pretty incredible coastline...and one fairly large open water crossing!! Anyway, off to do some packing and have Becca pick me up. .......'till the next one......

Here it is 12/4/07

My site is up and running...like I will be in a marathon in Saturday, Dec. 8; I leave tomorrow for NC....and am looking forward to seeing the family in the sunny south. The other thing that will be nice about going to the south will be to see daylight that will last for the full duration of a normal work day...My boss told me I am going to get a sunburn in the shade! This site here has alot of work to be done on it to keep up with the rest of the bloggers in my family, but hopefully Rebecca (my lovely girlfriend) will help me keep things going....seeing as how I don't have a computer and all. More pictures and what not to come in the future. Enjoy!
